Cover Story
When 9 months boiled down to 60 seconds
“A crazy finish for a crazy season,” Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini correctly summed up afterwards. City's first League title since 1968 also augurs well for its Qatari owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who has invested near about GBP1 billion since taking over in 2008. Ayon Sengupta takes stock.

Football
KICKING AROUND
Hodgson and England
The FA has dramatically appointed Roy Hodgson as England's new coach. Quite correctly, too, in my own view. For me, Roy should have had the job back in 1994, immediately after a World Cup in which he'd so splendidly taken his unfancied Swiss team, drawing with and beating Italy en-route, in the qualifiers. Alas, he didn't get appointed. Over to Brian Glanville.
I-LEAGUE
Ranty's goal-gluttony
The goal-poacher, who continues to retain the surprise element inside the striking zone, got 32 out of the 59 goals that his team scored in the League. An I-League record, Ranty's unmitigated fest fetched him his third golden boot (highest scorer) and his team the title, writes Amitabha Das Sharma.

Colaco, the success behind Dempo
Continuity has helped Colaco and his Dempo players to win a record five national championships over the past decade. By Ayon Sengupta.

Cricket
Steyn's way of ticket disbursement
Steyn has come up with a ‘treasure hunt' concept where he leaves clues that lead to the place where tickets have been hidden away. If only he could devise a similarly brilliant plan to end Deccan Chargers' losing streak! By Arun Venugopal.
IPL ROUND-UP
Nothing like team effort
CSK was the most improved outfit in the week not just because it won. It had actually learnt to win again and this aspect of a team's profile counts in a competition where the equations often change within the span of one over, writes Vijay Lokapally.

LONDON CALLING
A good guy if ever there was one
If Stephen Hendry says it is time he laid his cue back in its case I have so much faith in his thinking power to believe it must be the truth. Good luck, Stephen, you have given us a lot of pleasure. Look after yourself, writes Ted Corbett.

Hockey
VISA INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
A tough workout
India came to the London Olympic Park “in order to learn” according to Coach Michael Nobbs. What was their learning experience? The first learning was about the new ‘blue' pitch and the second about the pace of the game. Over to Susan Edghill.
